INGREDIENTS
- ¾ cup milk - Use any milk you like—dairy or plant-based options both work perfectly!
- ¾ cup strawberries - Fresh or frozen work for the puree, while fresh ones are ideal for garnish or diced pieces.
- 3 Tablespoons sugar
- 3 Tablespoons hot water
- 1 ½ teaspoon matcha powder - Opt for high-quality ceremonial-grade matcha in airtight packaging for the best flavor.
- ice to serve
- boba - (optional)
RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS
- Place the matcha powder in a small bowl.
- Pour in half of the hot water (just below boiling) and whisk vigorously using a matcha whisk or small whisk until smooth and free of lumps.
- Once fully blended, add the remaining hot water and whisk again until the matcha is evenly mixed and frothy. Set aside.
- Blend fresh or thawed strawberries into a smooth puree using a blender.
- If you don’t have a blender, mash the strawberries with a fork or masher until you achieve a puree-like consistency.
- Pour the puree into the bottom of your serving glass, filling about one-third of the glass.
- Add ice to the glass to keep the drink cold. If using boba, place it at the bottom of the glass before adding the strawberry puree.
- Gently pour your milk of choice over the strawberry layer, filling the glass until it’s about two-thirds full.
- Both dairy and plant-based milk work well, so choose your favorite.
- Slowly pour the prepared matcha over the back of a spoon held just above the milk layer.
- This technique helps create a clean, defined layer. Avoid stirring to preserve the beautiful layers.
- Finish the drink by garnishing with fresh strawberry slices or a whole strawberry on the rim of the glass.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your beautifully layered strawberry matcha latte!
