Samsung Galaxy Note 8
The Galaxy Note 8 retakes the throne as the ultimate Android phone for now. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has taken the best phone around and made it even better with an impressive Infinity screen and premium design. Galaxy Note 8 is without a doubt Samsung's best, most feature-packed phone.
Key features:
- 6.3-inch quad-HD display
- IP68 water-resistance
- 6GB RAM, 64GB storage
- Android 7.1.1
- 2 x 12MP camera
The Note 8, then, is supposed to be Samsung’s humble return to the phablet market plus a big rival to the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus and in many ways, this phone is a huge success. With a gorgeous design, incredible 6.3-inch screen, great software and excellent stylus, there’s very little not to like here.
In fact, the only big concern I have is that this phone’s battery life might not be long enough for heavy users.Samsung has ramped up its safety testing and reduced the Note 8's battery size to avoid repeating last year's fatal battery mistake, though we won't know if it's truly safe until weeks have gone by without a reported incident.
The camera module comprises of two sensors behind two lenses (more on these in the Camera section), an optical heart-rate monitor, LED flash, and a fingerprint scanner. You can adjust the blur intensity before you take the photo, and even afterwards in edit mode, which is a great feature. In addition, the Note 8 automatically saves a wide-angle version of the picture as well as the artistic portrait so you can hop back and forth between the two.
iPhone 8 Plus
Apple’s latest phablet looks a lot like the iPhone 7 Plus, but don’t let that fool you; this is a big upgrade in plenty of areas. The iPhone 8 Plus is a superlative phone with a spectacular camera.
There is a completely new 12MP camera, a new True Tone display that dynamically adjusts according to the environment and the ability to play HDR 10 and Dolby Vision content.
Key features:
- 5.5-inch FHD True-Tone display
- IP67 water-resistance
- 12MP dual rear-camera
- A11 Bionic
- 64GB or 256GB storage
The Samsung Galaxy S 8's fast speeds and fantastic curved screen make it one of the top phone of 2017.the Samsung Galaxy S 8 is without a doubt the most beautiful, polished phone I've ever held. What makes the Galaxy S 8 so special is this: A tall, narrow shape that fits snugly in my palm and curved sides that scream "classy." And the screen? 5.8 inches of colorful gorgeousness with a display that stretches from edge to edge with just a whisper of a bezel. For its looks alone, Samsung's flashiest phone lands at the top of the class.
Key Features:
- 5.8-inch, AMOLED, quad-HD Infinity Display
- Samsung Exynos 8895 CPU and 4GB of RAM
- 64GB, 3000mAh
- 12-MP camera
The rear camera is also the best we’ve encountered on a smartphone. Featuring a 12-megapixel, f/1.7 aperture and Dual Pixel sensor, the unit here is great for chronicling everything from holiday snaps in the sun to fun nights out in dimly lit bars and clubs. So long as you aren't hanging all your hopes on work-in-progress Bixby (Google Assistant is an easy alternative to invoke) and have the patience of a saint when unlocking the phone, the Galaxy S 8 is a sound buy that will make your friends jealous of its tall, curved, crazy-elegant screen.
Google Pixel 2
Key Features:
- 5-inch AMOLED; 1,920x1080 pixels Display
- 12.2 MP camera
- 64GB, 128GB storage
- 4GB RAM
The Pixel 2 has the best camera quality of any Android phone, and updates like water resistance and a best-in-class processor make it a top pick. The Android Oreo software will get regular updates, and Google's Lens feature taps into Google's vast search database so you can immediately learn more about the world around you.
The camera, one lens down on some competitors, is better than all of them in most situations thanks to the superior software onboard. You only get that benefit when you buy Google hardware, and the company is finally realising the end to end product that Apple has been making for a decade.
The One plus 5 is outstanding, especially for the price; no other phone gives you the same bang for the buck. This is the fourth major phone from Chinese phone maker OnePlus, which has earned a reputation for creating cheap, quality Android phones that undercut the competition.
Key features:
- 5.5-inch full-HD display
- 6 or 8GB RAM, Snapdragon 835
- 64 or 128GB storage, no microSD
- 16 + 20 MP camera, 16-megapixel selfie camera
The effect doesn't always work perfectly every time on both the OnePlus and the iPhone. It can be patchy around objects with tricky outlines (like with stray hairs and such). But the iPhone did a slightly better job at reading these situations and determining where best the blurring should start and end. The iPhone's bokeh effect also looked softer and more natural at times.
Favourite OnePlus 3 feature was Dash Charge, and it’s back again here although with no new additions. Still, being able to charge the phone for an hour is very impressive. The One plus 5 is affordable and super fast, with an 18-hour battery. Its camera takes great portraits and low-light shots. It costs more than any previous model, its design isn't anything special and it doesn’t have expandable storage.
